Thanks to Yoel Castillo-Botello, formerly of the Louisville Free Public Library, the Reforma Southeast chapter enjoyed a very successful fundraiser on Saturday, June 18. Yoel, who is an accomplished flamenco dancer, managed to enlist his fellow dancers and musicians to put on a truly wonderful show at the Vernon Club in Louisville. There were 79 people in attendance, and everyone enjoyed the evening of beautiful dancing, singing and music. In addition to the admission fees, the fundraiser included a raffle and a silent auction. The raffle item and the silent auction item were both original paintings that were donated by the artist, Graciela Perrone, who is also a friend of Yoel’s!
The raffle netted $210 and the silent auction netted $100. After paying the expenses for the evening, our chapter received a total profit of $715! We owe Yoel a huge debt of gratitude for all the hard work he put into this event. We are going to miss Yoel greatly when he leaves in August to attend Georgetown University, in Washington, D.C., on a graduate fellowship.
